Tap Tempo Metronome

Tap along with any song or rhythm to find its BPM, visualize each beat, measure your timing stability, and send the tempo to the online metronome.

How to use Tap Tempo

Tap Tempo converts the pulse you hear or imagine into beats per minute and shows how consistently you are tapping.

Tap with the pulse

Press the TAP button on every beat. Two taps produce an initial BPM, while several evenly spaced taps make the estimate more reliable.

Check your rhythm stability

The stability score compares your recent tap intervals. Green indicates consistent timing, yellow shows moderate variation, and red means the spacing is uneven.

Practice at the detected BPM

Click the BPM result to open the metronome with that exact tempo. Your other metronome settings remain available for the next practice session.

Tap Tempo Q&A

How is the rhythm stability score calculated?

The score compares the variation in your recent tap intervals with their average. Even intervals produce a score near 100%, while larger timing differences lower the score. It measures consistency, not musical ability.

What do the green, yellow, and red ratings mean?

Green means a stability score of 85% or higher, yellow covers 60% to 84%, and red is below 60%. Tap several times before judging the result because two taps are not enough to measure variation.

What do the colored rectangles visualize?

The left rectangle moves clockwise around a color wheel. A tap freezes its current color and moves it to the right. Once a tempo is established, one color cycle matches the average beat interval, so accurate taps collect similar colors and uneven taps create a more varied row.

Why can the first colors look different?

The tool needs at least two taps to estimate the beat interval and at least three to score stability. The first colors are collected while that timing reference is still being established; four to eight steady taps give a clearer pattern.
