How to use Tap Tempo
Tap along to find a tempo, then open it in the metronome. Use the TAP button or press Space on your keyboard.
Tap with the pulse
Press TAP or Space once for each beat. Two taps give an initial BPM; continuing for several beats averages more intervals.
Start a new measurement
Press Reset to clear the current taps. If more than 2.5 seconds pass between taps, the next tap begins a fresh measurement automatically.
Practice at the detected BPM
Click the BPM result to open the metronome with that exact tempo. Your other metronome settings remain available for the next practice session.

How many taps do I need?
Two taps create the first interval and show an initial BPM. More taps let the estimate use several recent intervals instead of relying on just one.
Can I use the Space key to tap?
Yes. Press Space anywhere on the Tap Tempo page to record a tap. When a button or form control has focus, Space keeps that control's normal behavior.
How do I start over?
Press Reset to clear the measurement. A pause longer than 2.5 seconds also starts a fresh set of taps automatically.
