Drop C Tuning
C G C F A D (CGCFAD) tuning
Use this free Drop C tuning guitar tuner for CGCFAD. Tune each string online with microphone pitch detection, exact frequencies and cents guidance.
How to tune to Drop C with a tuner
Drop C tuning uses C G C F A D, combining Whole Step Down tuning with the lowest string dropped another whole step to C2. Select each string in the tuner and lower the pitch gradually until the cents indicator is centered.
CGCFAD tuning string order
From the sixth string to the first, tune to C2, G2, C3, F3, A3 and D4. Start from standard tuning by lowering every string one whole step, then lower the sixth string from D2 to C2.
Using Drop C tuning safely
Drop C provides a deep low register and one-finger power chord shapes used in metal and heavy rock. The lower tension may feel loose on light strings, so tune slowly and consider heavier strings for regular CGCFAD use.
