About Metronome BPM
Discover Metronome BPM: a free online metronome, Tap Tempo BPM counter, chromatic and instrument tuners, and practical music guides.
Metronome BPM brings a metronome, tap-tempo counter and microphone tuners together in a free browser-based music practice website.
Online metronome
Keep a steady pulse for practice, rehearsal or teaching. Simple mode provides an everyday beat count, first-beat accent and practice timer. Professional mode adds written time signatures, preset groupings and subdivisions.
Tap Tempo BPM counter
Estimate a song's tempo by tapping along with its beat using the Tap button or spacebar. The counter calculates BPM from your taps without listening through the microphone. The result depends on the pulse you tap and how consistently you follow it.
Chromatic and instrument tuners
Use your microphone to check a note's pitch or tune towards a selected target. The chromatic tuner detects the nearest note or compares your playing with a chosen note and octave. The instrument tuner provides guitar and ukulele tuning targets. Pitch calculations use an A4 = 440 Hz reference, and the cents display shows whether the detected pitch is below or above the target. Pluck one string at a time for a clearer reading.
Clear musical conventions
In professional mode, the metronome plays one click per written note unit at the displayed BPM. For example, 6/8 uses six eighth-note clicks; a 3 + 3 grouping adds cues for the two larger pulses. Our guides explain how to translate a score's marking into the right setting.
Browser-based by design
The tools run without an account or installation. Microphone audio is processed locally for tuning, and saved metronome preferences stay in your browser. Optional analytics helps us understand usage.
Guides and feedback
Our guides connect explanations with tools so you can immediately try a beat pattern or tuning. We welcome corrections and reports of problems on different devices. Adapt music examples and exercises to your instrument, score and experience.
